I was listening to too much 40K lore when i drew this.

Came up with a concept years ago called 'the sponge', a kind of alien plant which fed on the energy produced when ripping a hole in space time. It would grow inside the tear, creating a sponge-like material where every pore was in fact a portal to another location. It was impossible to know which pore went where, until someone had the bright idea to grow some inside the human brain. Incorporating their neural network into the sponge itself to dictate the growth of controlled pathways. That's this guy, he's become one with the Sponge.

In the speculative evolution community, there is a tradition started by Dougal Dixon himself. That of imagining giant hyper-evolved bats. Everyone has to have one. Even the ITV original Dino-show 'Primeval' had one. Mine walk on their fingers like spiders and can't close their mouths.

Spec-evo idea. A species of flightless pterodactyl that only becomes sentient when fused sexually to it's mate.
